Lee Child WIP

Description

Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher series, my favorite author by far. Photo can be found on the hard cover books of "Gone Tomorrow" and "61 Hours".

I got tired and finished it in a rush, however this took me a long time on and off. You know how long it took if you're on my facebook... I didn't put any texts on the pics, I'll just type here corresponding to the numbers on the photos.

~1. Material: mechanical pencil 0.5mm, Prismacolor color pencils regular and 'verithin', Prismacolor 'art stix', colorless blending pencil, Bristol paper/board (smooth).
~2. Sketch and marking where everything will go with mechanical pencil.
~3. Erase pencil lines and leave enough to see what you're doing. Start somewhere, doesn't have to be the eyes, everyone draws differently.
~4. Usually I don't recommend using black, but for color pencils it's hard not to depending on what you're doing. Use it with good control, or else black will flatten your work just like in other mediums.
~5. The so called 'art stix' are just sticks of the inside of the Prismacolor color pencils, the lead sort of speak. It's only for convenience, you don't need it or anything, I don't even use them that much.
~6. Some detailing can start early. Just don't blend just yet, that should be your very last step.
~7. Moving onto coloring other places...
~8. Adding the gradient, but specifically for this medium, you can also add the lighter colors before you use the darks, whatever you're more comfortable with.
~9. The shadows on the blue is also the effect of adding (never too much) black
~10. Almost the finished product. Details can be further blended and touched up with the Verithin pencils, but you don't necessarily have to use the Verithin, or even touch it up. Careful you don't over pressure your Verithin pencils, they're hard, and can leave heavy marks on your paper, and note that they're very light in color intensity.

Feel free to ask questions, though I'm not by any stretch an expert of anything, I can only help with what I can. :)
